Have you heard the American folk tune “Wayfaring Stranger”? This beautiful, haunting melody dates back to the early 1800s. While many versions of the lyrics exist, they all center on a plaintive soul journeying through life.
I’ve arranged this tune three different ways for solo piano.
Level 1 is designed for beginners and is broken into three parts for ease of practice:
Level 1a – melody only
Level 1b – melody with simple left-hand harmony
Level 1c – melody, simple harmony, and phrasing assists
Level 2 offers a simple, moving version for intermediate players. Click here to listen to me playing this arrangement.
Level 3 is a stride-style, jazzed-up arrangement for advanced players who want to have a little fun with the tune. Click here to listen to me playing this arrangement.
Enjoy!
